The situation
An energy company needed a product that could operate renewable energy communities: not a brochure site, but software that modeled sharing, self-consumption, and settlement under rules that differ by market.
The constraint
Requirements arrived incomplete. Regulation moved while the product was being defined. The system had to remain correct when the legal model changed underneath it.
What I decided
I owned the product definition and the architecture end to end. The platform was structured as modular services so energy sharing logic, financial orchestration, and market-specific rules could change independently. I refused a monolithic build that would freeze assumptions about a single jurisdiction.
What shipped
A digital platform for community energy management: sharing models, self-consumption calculation, and financial orchestration paths that operators could configure per market.
What it produced
A scalable product line item in the portfolio rather than a one-off project, with architecture that could absorb regulatory change without a rewrite.
